For more than twenty years I worked in the European Commission's  Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs, last holding the position of  a Senior Adviser on productivity and inclusive growth. My research, analysis and contributions to policy formulation focus on globalisation and European economic and monetary integration, and its impact on labour markets and social models in Europe.

I spent the formative years of my professional work experience at the department of economics of the IHS  Vienna. The Institute has been a leading post-graduate training and research organisation, where I studied and later worked as researcher and then senior economist, specialising in macro- and labour economics. Main tasks included, inter alia, forecasting and policy simulations based on the Institute's macroeconometric model.
